CASTING COUCH
Written by KimberlyWyatt on June 13, 2012
“The talent pool of people trying to climb the ladder to the top is overcrowded. Some people will do just about anything to get what they want.”
Working hard to make yourself shine above the rest to get people from big companies with money to want to invest in you is the name of the Entertainment game. The question I have always asked myself is, “What can I do that nobody around me can? How do I make myself seem like a commodity worth investing in…”
As much as hard work is a major factor to success there are multiple ways to get what you want. I know this because I’ve seen and experienced a lot during my 13 years as a professional dancer. Already, by calling myself a dancer I’m faced with judgments of whether or not it means I take my clothes off in a strip club. The Casting Couch is a very real thing. As much as I’d like to say it’s only subject to girls – it’s very much an obstacle and/or opportunity (depending on how you look at it) for both genders. The benefits can be supportive to your goals but your decisions do come with consequences.
By observation and experience I’ve learned that when you aren’t noticed one way, another way that seems to work time and time again is the power of the pussy-cat. This happens a number of different ways:
1. Smashing a bottle of whiskey to the face and inviting Mr. or Mrs. Moneybags into the bathroom for a rendezvous at a Snoop Dog Party.
2. Giving the “client” a lap dance during a dance audition for a tv show on Fox.
3. Sleeping with the Producer.
4. Pretend to be in love, get what you want, then dump them for someone more famous to get the exposure you want.
5. Buy fake tits, new nose, lipo your thighs and gain the confidence it takes to seduce all opportunities.
The power of the pussy-cat is one that can’t be fought with gloves or any other form of clothing for that matter. NOW – I don’t support this method of gaining a career… all I’m saying is that I’ve seen it work, usually faster then all other methods of climbing the ladder. Leaving those of us that choose the long hard road of working hard, meeting people, learning the business, and doing it ourselves in the dust.
Fame and Fortune is an Ugly Monster that lives in hopes of an investor. Most will flirt with the intention and some will give up all personal dreams of Romeo and Juliet passion and love for a bank account, a car, tits, lips, and ass and maybe a bit of recognition. But the Fame and Fortune Monster haunts them in their reflection and tortures them when they sleep at night.
So when you find yourself sitting on someone’s casting couch being offered an exciting proposal, remember that it comes with a price – NOTHING is FREE in life. Most everyone has stories’, it’s up to you how victorious you want yours to be. I feel pretty damn proud of mine.
